Thank you for providing the example, it is clear for me what you are doing now.
You are trying to add an MRP Group on a MRP area, but there is no MRP Group defined for the material on tab MRP1.
Message MD06040 is triggered as a warning message, just to inform you that there is no MRP Group at material level. On my system I simply clicked the button continue and the MRP Group was saved on the MRP area without any problem.
This message is hardcoded as an error and if you want to avoid it, you must modify the code on include LMD_MGD1I02 - MDMA_DISGR.
Otherwise, you can simply ignore this message or define an MRP controller also on the material master.
